I've long felt that the saying, "If you haven't got anything interesting to say, then shut up" is a saying deserving some heed. So I'm mostly shutting up these days. Recently my work life has completely consumed the rest of my life and there is little place left in my brain for creativity. Admittedly I am learning lots of new things, but there's no time to share.
Nevertheless, and all in all, a paleolithic diet is still very good and healthy diet (you all know what I mean by a paleo diet without me having to define it) and it is still a good idea to restrict carbohydrates if you have a lot of weight to lose or if you suffer from diseases or illnesses positively affected by carbohydrate restriction (which is quite a lot really). Being physically inactive will still slowly degrade us and exercise is still healthy, as long as we do it properly, don't overdo it, and make sure we get enough rest. Getting enough sleep, being in the sun, not stressing and doing nice things with nice people are also still healthy. There seems to be little new under the sun lately except that which is buried deeply in the details and that mostly appeal to those more than 2 standard deviations above mean nerdyness.
But constantly pulling at my attention is the ever ongoing fight against those less interested in correct knowledge about diet and health. And here's the reason I'm not currently shutting up. The following quote was so very illustrating of what many of us are feeling, so here it is, brought to me by a very good friend:
”…-well, you may take my word, that nine parts in ten of a man's sense or his nonsense, his successes and miscarriages in this world, depend upon their motions and activity, and the different tracks and trains you put them into; so that when they are once set a-going, whether right or wrong, `tis not a halfpenny matter, - away they go cluttering like hey-go-mad; and by treading the same steps over and over again, they presently make a road of it, as plain and as smooth as a garden-walk, which when they are once used to, the devil himself sometimes shall not be able to drive them off it.”
Until next time, have a healthy and fine time, and remember to eat meat.
